John Howe is one of the world's most renowned fantasy artists and book illustrators, best known for his illustrations of J. R. R. Tolkien's works. In late 1997, Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema invited Howe and noted Tolkien artist Alan Lee to take part in making The Lord of the Rings film trilogy as a chief conceptual designers.
